So, I’ve been working with HOLY STRAYS for a bit now and this upcoming Chasm EP is a stunning piece of work. Its intricate melodies set atop rivers of bass and frantic percussion, stone beats, distant organs and ghostly sampled vocals all move together to make something original and magical with an assured confidence that belies his youth.
It’s not going be for everyone, but if you like beautiful things and the sound of dreams, splintered in the mind’s eye, then do dip in. It’s incredible work, just completely stunning.
The 12″ is out next month.
The first track, SERENADE, is on Dummy http://www.dummymag.com/new-music/premiere-holy-strays-serenade …
It calls together Lee Perry, Ennio Morricone, Massive Attack, Cocteau Twins, Fourtet, Balam, Andrew Weatherall, building a golden palace
Pure escapsim. set on classical lines, jazz turns, and a keening beating heart, that all draw you into his world.
Welcoming and unfamiliar.
